nRF5 SDK – Tutorial for Beginners Pt 2 – Install & Activate Segger Embedded Studio
This video is part of the ongoing Beginners tutorial series and its main purpose is to guide on how to install and how to activate Segger Embedded Studio. It goes briefly through the installation & activation procedures and beginners will find it very easy to follow. Common Mistake: One common issue is that the Segger Embedded Studio shows no activation status or ask for activation after entering the activation key from segger. The answer to this common problem is that Segger embedded studio is activated for Nordic Semiconductor devices only and the default opened program on the first run is a generic device program which causes license issue as the SES thinks that this program is not a Nordic device program so it asks for License. Just continue and don’t activate it again. Once you follow my next video in which we will download NRF5 SDK and run an example from that code. It will automatically be activated as it can now read the device to be Nordic Semiconductor device.

This video is a part of my on going series of tutorials for beginners and in this tutorial we will be downloading the Latest nRF5 SDK which is version 16.0.0 and then we will learn the recommended way of installing the SDK. We will also learn how to create a new Project inside the SDK in such a way that we do the minimum work and also the required files are added in the project to get started. The directory structures for nRF5 SDK are explained in such a way that it is easy for new users & beginners to locate something in the sdk which might be needed by the users. I have tried to explain briefly, and if you don’t understand somethings don’t worry in the future tutorials we will be dealing with all the problems faced by the beginners.

This tutorial is a part of my ongoing series for nrf5 sdk for beginners. In this tutorial i will explain Segger Embedded Studio briefly and it will be enough to get started. If you are new to segger embedded studio this tutorial will help you in learning the basics of segger embedded studio. This is a great ide with tons of features and we can change themes and add new files and folders, create reference folders, debug the code and all the basic features that are needed to develop our projects using nrf5 sdk. We will see how we manage the code and also its how to compile using some shortcut keys. This is just a basic tutorial and the advance features will be covered along the future video tutorials so you don’t need to learn it from somewhere else.
